Loseley Park is a historic stately home located close to Guildford in Surrey, visitors to the estate can explore the impressive house that has been the family home for the More-Molyneux family for many generations. The acclaimed gardens offer visitors with a relaxing and tranquil environment in which they can appreciate a great English garden. The house and gardens are open during the summer season for visitors offering a scenic heritage attraction.
Attractions
Loseley Park has been in the More-Molyneux family for many generations, the family still live here. The estate here was first bought by the ancestors of the More-Molyneux family back at the start of the 16th century, the house itself was built in the 1560s for Elizabeth I to stay in. The house has plenty of great details and period features in its style, build and decorations helping to create a sense of history.
The Great Hall is the main room of the house. It contains intricate and detailed panelling from Henry VIII's Nonsuch Palace, there is a minstrel's gallery along with a wonderful collection of family portraits and portraits from the Royal family. The room is impressive and imposing to visitors and forms the centrepiece of the rooms at the house.
The Drawing Room features a gilded ceiling that was originally decorated for James I's visit here and also has a celebrated chalk fireplace. The room also contains two important cabinets and a large sea picture that shows the wreckage of two ships in a storm.
The Walled Garden has a number of notable features including the acclaimed Rose Garden, where visitors will find over 1,000 rose bushes included among them are rugosas, albas, moss and English among others and all are framed by low box hedges. The main feature in the garden is a gazebo that features planted roses. The garden is at its most visual in late June and the early part of July.
The Herb Garden consists of an interesting array of herbs that number over 200, they are spilt in to four main categories, these are contains a fascinating array of over two hundred herbs categorised in four separate areas namely culinary, decorative household and medicinal.
The Flower Garden has been designed to help provide colour throughout the season, the garden combines traditional herbaceous plants with mixed shrubs and drifts of bulbs and annuals. The net result is a bold and vivid garden full of colour including reds, oranges and blues.

By Car:
The site is located 30 miles to the south west of central London. From central London take the A3 and drive until the B3000, exit on to the B3000 towards Godalming/Compton and keep driving until the exit for the main entrance in Stakescorner Road.

By Train:
From Waterloo Station in central London trains are available Guildford, the station is approx 3 miles from the house. From the station visitors can get a taxi to Kew Bridge then bus numbers 237 or 267 or using the North London line train to Gunnersbury Station and then taking the bus 237 or 267.
By Bus:
There are various local bus services that service the Guilford area. From Guildford it is easiest to get a taxi to the house.
